Research - Film Audiences

Film Audiences

When researching on what type of thriller opening I would want to make, I have to take into consideration the type of audience I would like to focus on in order to make something they would want to see. I, as the director, have to make sure that the four technical areas are used wisely in order to be able to maintain the story of the thriller opening short and understandable. Furthermore, the type of audience needs to be able to understand what the opening is about in order to get and idea of what the entire movie is going to be based on which then will decide if they would want to go watch the film or not.

Audiences are not only based on what kind of people would watch the movie, but also on an specific age group and ethnic group. 90% of thrillers today are targeted at people between the age of 18-30 because they are the ones who are more into these kind of things. On the other hand, when filming something which is going to be seen by many different people, it needs to be kept in mind that the stuff included in the thriller is not offensive to any sort of ethnic group or religion.

Overall, I think an audience is very important because it makes it easier to make something when we know what the audience are looking for. Asking for feedback is always a good technique so mistakes are not made when making the thriller opening.
