Costumes and Props
Costumes and props are very important, costumes may show characteristics of a character from the film, and props create different atmospheres and force different moods to the audience. A character wearing ripped and dirty clothes may seem poor to the audience, so if that's what the film wanted to show they succeeded because the audience thinks what they wanted them to think. Props like melee weapons, knifes, machetes etc. in a room may make the audience think that the person who lives there is some sort of a serial killer.
For our thriller opening we came up with lots of ideas but some were impossible to get. We wanted to get some hospital clothing that patience were so the man breaking out from hospital would look like he actually broke out instead, we tried getting those clothes but we didn't get permission. We also thought we could have some scenes with sharp stuff like a knife or something but because of safety reasons that was not possible. So we had to come up with something more basic and simple.
For costumes we used casual clothing and for props we used things like broken pen, candle, dark lighting in the room, diary etc.
I think our costumes and props worked well, I was happy with our props, they created nice atmosphere which will hopefully make the audience think what we wanted them to think.
