'Collateral' Remake
In order to put into practise the different techniques we've learnt so far and also the camera use, we were assigned to create a remake of the tittle sequence for 'Collateral'. This involved getting the right equipment and props in order to create the clip as similar as possible. After we were given the task, we went to Angel Shopping Centre because we chose that to be the location for our recording because the atmosphere was very similar to the one in the Collateral clip. Making the remake was very fun because we had to re-take the shots in order to get the perfect one. We put into practise all the four technical areas that we learnt during lesson. The fact that there was a lot of people around at that time made it easier for us because in the original clip there was a lot of people walking around as well. For the camera work, we used a variety of shots, from close ups, to medium shots, to over the shoulder shots.
Once we were done with the shooting for all the scenes, we went back to the computer for the editing. Using Final Cut Pro, we edited everything that we recorded so that it looks very similar to the editing from the original clip. We used a variety of techniques such as match cuts and also sound effects. We found the editing process interesting as it was the first time we edited something as a group but we enjoyed it and we found it interesting being able to experiment with different editing techniques as it gives us a rough idea of how to do it when we start the real project.
