Research and Practice - Re-editing a film opening

Title editing exercise

After we learned about the way title sequences are structured into a thriller opening, I wanted to put in practise ho to add titles into an opening because this would teach me for my future thriller opening. We were given a title sequence that was split into different parts, so the task was to join all the clips together in order to make the clips together have a story. Once I was able to put all the clips together so they make sense, I was introduced to editing titles. I was using 'Final Cut Pro' in order to join the clips together and also add the titles to the clip. I had to take into consideration things like the time in between each title, the for, the colour, and the transition. These things are very noticeable when watched the final opening. A lot of detail needs to be put when editing because every single detail needs to fit in the right place. For my titles, I followed the usual conventional order and I used the font 'Linden Hill'. I also played around with where the title would be placed. On the other hand, I was able to get a fade in fade out effect for the transition effect so it looks better when the title comes in. Using 'Final Cut Pro' is slightly complicated to use at the beginning but then is easy once all the editing techniques are learned. Editing the titles was fun because it gave me an idea of how long the editing process for titles is and different effect that I could apply to the titles in order to make them looks better along with the clip. Underneath, you can see the final clip edited. However, sound hasn't been added to the final opening, so this is only the title sequence.
