Research and Practice - Learning how to use the JVC camera and shots

We learnt how to use a JVC camera today!!
We were given a camera to each group and we were shown a video by Dan on how to use a JVC camera for our film openings.
We learnt how to:
  • Place a memory card into the camera
  • How to place it on a tripod
  • How to zoom in and out
  • How to focus
  • How to use natural lighting
  • How to open the lenses
After the introduction that we had to use the camera we were then given some time in order to practise what we had learnt. we were given several tasks so we could apply the techniques that we learnt into our own work. We used the JVC camera in order to take the shots. These are the different shots:

- This is a tight big close up of one of our colleagues. We made sure that the camera really focuses son her face.

- This is a wide shot of our college's canteen. It clearly shows the room's surroundings.

- In order to shoot feet in an interesting way, we had to place the camera in an specific way so that it really focuses on the feet. Wet took two screenshots so you can see the different type of shots that we took of the feet.

- This is a well framed over the shoulder shot. It shows the person's should and the person  who she seems to be focusing on.

- This is a shot of my colleague standing next to a window. There's enough lighting in the room and we can also see the reflection in the window thanks to the lighting.

- Here are some Rule of Thirds shots. These shots follow the convection and are taken correctly. In all pictures the eyes are in the upper third of the picture and the third picture is positioned well to present the characters sight of view.  The first two pictures are close ups. We can analyse facial expressions carefully and the shots follow the film conventions properly.
